I have already photographed weddings at the Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest, but it was long ago. I was really excited to be there again.
I have met Krisztina at this time of the year in 2018. I am not sure which day exactly. But I clearly remember it was right around Christmas.
Our first meeting went really well. We discussed everything and got into contract before Christmas. Interestingly back then we did not know what the venue was going to be. Krisztina and Andreas were still hesitant. Eventually the beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle the Agricultural Museum and the Cloister (Kerengő) was the winner. It is a magnificent and intimate venue in the heart of the City Park. Good transportation but also a little away from the city’s hassle. Absolutely ideal for a smaller wedding.
However, the weather was not that nice to us during preparation, as soon as the time has come for the ceremony the rain eased a bit. We were really lucky the rain started pouring again when we were already feasting and partying in the Vajdahunyad Castle - Agricultural Museum.
In order to understand you need to get to know the venue better. The 2 venues are of walking distance from each other. But the Vajdahunyad Castle - Cloister (Kerengő) is an open area where couples desire to have their ceremony. Since there was rain we needed to have a talented decorator and a problem solving wedding planner. They have moved the furniture and the wedding decoration to the corridor part. It was not that airy anymore but quite intimate. Which was the purpose after all.
The preparation took place in the New York Palace were we had the first look as well.
The lutheran ceremony was really beautiful. My eyes were wet a bit as well.
The food was remarkable also the speeches. I speak no Swedish. When you need to photograph a wedding where you have no clue of the language as well you become really sensitive to emotions and feelings. I need to understand everything by gestures. Of course there is my 10+ years of experience which come in really handy in these situations.
